Idiopathic Insomnia
Question about a sleeping disorder…?
Okay well I’m pretty sure I have Idiopathic Insomnia.
My reasons:
I’ve had insomnia since birth
I have trouble concentrating, and paying attention
I’m usually hyper-active
I am insensitive to medications of all sorts
I always have it, but it gets worse with stress
and I am an emotional repressor.
Now the one weird thing that I’m not sure fits is my sleep pattern. I have the tendency to not be able to sleep for 24 or more hours, and then I’ll sleep for an excessively long time without being able to wake myself up. Like everytime I try to wake up I fall asleep again within 5 seconds, and I have very vivid and creepy dreams that make no sense. I consciously feel like I’m stuck there.
Is this a symptom, or do I have something else entirely? I’m just so confused. Even if there is no way to help it, I would like to know what I have. My parents refuse to think there is anything wrong with me and will not take me to a doctor.
I’m so sorry your parents aren’t hearing you. That must be really frustrating and feel powerless.
As a natural healthcare practitioner who treats sleeping problems and children, it has been my experience that food chemicals, especially MSG, and refined sugars, especially High Fructose Corn Syrup, can alter brain function and brain chemicals (especially serotonin) and negatively impact sleep, attention, mood, memory and concentration.
Artificial sweeteners are even worse than the sugars.
Get rid of the junk food if you are eating any, and drink only clean water (boring, I know, but probably better than feeling how you feel now). To help clean out the toxins already in your body gently and safely, ask your mom to buy these ingredients and make this drink and have it 3 times a day (at least it isn’t just plain water . . .)
2 oz UNSWEETENED Cranberry Juice (not cranberry cocktail juice blend – that has too much sugar in it and won’t work. I like the Just Cranberry Brand)
¼ – ½ tsp raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (After a week, you will stop tasting the vinegar. Add ¼ tsp each time you stop tasting the vinegar in the drink)
1-2 TBSP lemon juice
6-8 oz of filtered or spring water (I use sparkling water, makes it seem like soda)
If you were my daughter, I would treat you with something called Nutripuncture, using a sequence called “open eyes/closed eyes” to reset your sleeping rhythms. It uses tiny amounts of trace minerals in a specific sequence to give correct data to the body so it can fix itself. It is completely safe, with no side-effects. My youngest patients who use Nutripuncture are less than 6 months old.
I would also treat you with NAET to handle any food or chemical sensitivities that also contribute to or cause the type of symptoms you are describing. Your parents can find an NAET practitioner in your area by going to www.naet.com. No shots, no drugs, completely non-invasive, and safe, and astonishingly effective. I use it every day in my practice. My youngest NAET patient was 3 weeks old when her mom brought her to my office because she was allergic to mom’s breast milk and hadn’t moved her bowels in 9 DAYS. The problem was handled in less than 5 minutes (not how it normally goes, but the baby was so young, she responded immediately).
Good luck to you, and I hope you feel better soon.
